Sports Promote Physical and Mental Growth: MP Elen Bhutto

"Sports promote physical and mental development. They keep the mind clean and engage the youth in positive activities," said Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto, Member of Parliament for the Jhalakati-2 constituency.

She made the remarks on Wednesday (July 1) afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at the Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026. The match, contested between Jhalakati Sadar Upazila and Nalchiti Municipality, took place at the Nalchiti China Ground.

MP Elen Bhutto emphasized the government’s commitment to organizing and promoting sports at the grassroots level. She noted that these initiatives are vital for keeping the youth away from drugs, terrorism, and other criminal tendencies, ultimately helping to build a healthier, more humane society.

Nalchiti Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rizvi Ahmed Sabuj presided over the event, with Jhalakati Sadar UNO Segufta Mehnaz attending as a special guest.

Other notable attendees included Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Touhiduzzaman Sohag, local BNP President Anisur Rahman Helal Khan, Vice President Md. Shahidul Islam Shahid, and Volunteer Party Convener Touhidul Alam Manna, alongside various administrative and sports personalities.
