Faridpur-3 MP Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf visited the river erosion-hit Paldangi area of Dikrirchar Union in Sadar Upazila on Sunday and distributed rice and cash assistance among affected families.
Around 10am, the MP travelled to Paldangi, a remote char area along the Padma River, to inspect the areas affected by erosion. He also spoke with affected residents and enquired about their condition.
Food items and cash assistance were distributed among 45 families affected by the river erosion. Each family received 20kg of rice along with cash assistance.
Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf listened to the affected families about their difficulties and assured them that he would stand by people suffering from river erosion.
Local residents said many families in Paldangi are facing uncertainty over their homes and homesteads because of the erosion. They called for urgent and effective measures to prevent further erosion and continued assistance for affected families.
Local political leaders, elected representatives and prominent community members were also present.
