Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has described content creator Salman Muqtadir’s social media remarks as "controversial" questioning why he has not yet filed a formal police complaint following the attack on his Dhaka studio.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday, the minister addressed the vandalism of Muqtadir's "BrownFish" studio in ECB Chattar. Muqtadir had posted a Facebook Live video showing the damage also making remarks about local law and order and mentioning political extortion.
"The gentleman who made these allegations on Facebook Live — has he filed a case? He has not" Ahmed said. He rejected Muqtadir’s sweeping comments regarding BNP extortion noting that Muqtadir himself acknowledged no direct demand was made on him.
The minister clarified that while Muqtadir was undoubtedly a victim, initial findings indicate the incident stemmed from an ongoing land dispute over a 35-katha plot involving a builder and a retired military officer. A group acting on behalf of the officer allegedly entered the New Gini Properties site at night to forcibly take possession, vandalizing structures in the process.
Responding to a 999 hotline call the police reached the scene and recovered spent bullet casings alongside locally made weapons and arrested three suspects. A detailed investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
