Gold price continue hits record Tk. 2,13,719 per bhori

The new rate, hits Tk 213,719 per bhori, a new record, with effect from tomorrow and new rate, reflecting an increase of Tk 4,619 per bhori, is set to come into effect from tomorrow, according to an announcement by Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) today.

Prices of the precious metal in Bangladesh have been rising steadily, setting new records almost every week in September alone, the price of 22-carat gold increases by more than Tk 16,000 per bhori.

Industry insiders attribute the surge mainly to the international bullion market, the devaluation of the BDT, economic uncertainty, and high inflation.

According to the Gold Policy of Bangladesh, annual domestic demand in stands between 20 and 40 tonnes.
