The National Fellowship for the Advancement of Visually Handicapped (NFAVH) distributed free educational materials to 20 destitute students and wheelchairs to three physically disabled individuals in Tongi.
The distribution ceremony took place at the Noagaon MA Majid Mia High School auditorium. This initiative was funded by the Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF) as part of its 13th-phase Social Development Project to support disabled and destitute people in Gazipur.
To support their ongoing education, each of the 20 students—selected from families facing poverty or disabilities—received a school bag, half a ream of notebook paper, six pens, and a geometry box. Additionally, organizers provided three high-quality wheelchairs to physically challenged residents to improve their daily mobility.
Key community figures and officials attended the event, including NFAVH Executive Director Selina Alam, NFAVH Vice President Mohsina Akhter, and Acting Headmaster of Noagaon MA Majid Mia High School, Md. Azharul Islam Sarkar. Local Ward 46 BNP President Md. Liaquat Ali and community representative Mohammad Ali were also present as special guests to hand over the supplies.
The initiative reflects an ongoing community effort to empower vulnerable and differently-abled groups across the Gazipur City Corporation area.
