


Monohardi Upazila in Narsingdi celebrated the 1st National Rural Development Day on Monday with the theme, “Developed Village, Prosperous Country—Bangladesh First.”
The day’s events began at 10:30 am with a colorful rally at the Monohardi Upazila Parishad premises, followed by a discussion and a sapling distribution ceremony. Minister of Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bakul, MP, attended the program as the chief guest.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M. A. Muhaimin Al Jihan chaired the meeting.
In his welcome address, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Shamim emphasized the government’s efforts to improve rural living standards, create self-employment, and empower women. “Joint efforts among government officials, public representatives, and citizens are necessary to bring the benefits of development to the grassroots,” he said.
Beneficiaries Jasmine Begum and Benuzir Ahmed shared how government projects have positively impacted their lives and urged authorities to continue these initiatives.
Other speakers included Upazila Agriculture Officer Runa Akhter, Project Officer (PJIP) Naznin Nahar Sheela, and Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Rafi Afroz Soni. They urged attendees to focus on skill development and maximize their use of available government services.
In his closing remarks, UNO M. A. Muhaimin Al Jihan said, “Rural development is the foundation of our country’s overall progress. To build a prosperous Bangladesh, we must improve the quality of life for rural people through coordinated initiatives and sincere public participation.”
The program concluded with the distribution of tree saplings to beneficiaries and students. Local officials, teachers, students, dignitaries, and journalists attended the event.
