A free eye camp has been organized in Shantiganj Upazila under the initiative of Dargapasha Union Parishad Chairman Sufi Mia.

This eye treatment, which started on Saturday morning, will continue till 4 pm. More than 400 patients from four unions will receive medical services here. Patients suffering from complex diseases will be operated on free of cost at Moulvibazar BNSB Eye Hospital. This eye camp was held at the Dargapasha Union Parishad Complex in the upazila.

Union Parishad Chairman Sufi Mia said that people from Paschim Pagla, Dargapasha, Purba Pagla and Purba Birgaon unions have been invited through mikes. People from all classes of the unions, from the deprived and extremely poor, have come to receive this service. This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to receive medical services due to lack of money. Our second program is about education. I will seek everyone's cooperation to take my union further in education in 2026. Everyone in the country will do it, especially those who are in exile. I hope that those who are in exile will provide special cooperation. I want to transform my union into a model union by increasing all kinds of services.

During the day-long treatment, the eye camp was visited by Faruk Ahmed, former chairman of Shantiganj Upazila Parishad and member of the Sunamganj District BNP Convening Committee, Roshan Khan Sagar, first joint convener of the Shantiganj Upazila BNP Convening Committee, Awlad Hossain, convener of West Pagla Union BNP, BNP leaders Sabbir Ahmed, Salek Uddin, Mukit Mia, convener of Upazila Jubo Dal Sohel Mia, Jubo Dal leaders Mansur Uddin, Shyamal Chowdhury and July fighter Ali Ahmed Dulal.

Beneficiaries and Fazil year student of Aktapara Fazil Madrasa Koli Akhter and 85-year-old Baul artist Noor Ali of Islampur village said, "We were able to get services here easily. We didn't even have to pay. The medical services are good." We are grateful to the Chairman and those who have taken this initiative. UP Chairman Md. Sufi Mia said, since I was elected, I have been serving the people of my union in various ways. A few days ago, I took the Primary Merit Scholarship Exam to improve the quality of primary education in my union. Among them, BNP's nominated MP candidate from Sunamganj-3 constituency Koychar M Ahmed was conducting an eye camp in my union, at that time, there were quite a few patients present at this event, it was not possible to bring everyone under the service that day. Today, all those patients are being treated on my initiative. We will continue this program in the future as well.

Former Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Faruk Ahmed said, UP Chairman Sufi Mia is a life dedicated to the people of the area. Serving the people is his joy. I am very happy that he is repeatedly bringing our neglected area forward to him. The eye camp was conducted a few months ago by our BNP's nominated MP candidate Koychar M Ahmed. But that day, there was an overflowing crowd of people. Numerous patients remained. I am so happy that UP Chairman Sufi Mian is providing services to those patients today on his own initiative.
