A massive wave of mourners gathered at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) on Saturday, December 20th, to pay their final respects to Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha.
The atmosphere at Manik Mia Avenue was one of somber patience as law enforcement managed a vast crowd of students, political activists, and general citizens. After a significant wait, security forces permitted the public to enter the premises through eight designated archway gates to participate in the funeral prayers (Janaza).
Despite the long queues, thousands of people remained orderly, with some attendees reporting waits of over three hours to enter the South Plaza.
Leaders and activists from various political spectrums joined the public, highlighting Hadi's influence across different sectors of society.
The depth of emotion was captured by attendees like SM Nazrul Islam, an expatriate who traveled from the United States, who described Hadi as a "once in a thousand years" figure, expressing deep regret that he could not see Hadi return to active campaigning.
The event underscores the significant impact Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi had on the contemporary political and social landscape of Bangladesh.
