


A court in Cox’s Bazar has sentenced four people to death and nine others to life imprisonment in the murder case of Army officer Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjon in Chakaria.
Judge Mohammad Abul Mansur Siddiqui of the Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon (May 20).
According to the case details, on September 23 last year, law enforcement received information about a planned robbery at the house of fish trader Rezaul Karim in East Maijpara of Chakaria upazila. Later, around 3:30 am, a joint team of the Army and Police led by Lieutenant Nirjon conducted an operation.
During the operation, one suspect was arrested while others attacked the team. Lieutenant Nirjon was seriously injured with a sharp weapon. He was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Bangladesh Army filed a murder case with Chakaria Police Station following the incident.
