The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that gusty winds of up to 60 kmph may lash five districts across the country by Monday evening. The weather office also forecast rain or thundershowers in these areas.
According to an inland river port warning valid until 6:00 PM on Monday (May 18), temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the west or northwest are expected over Mymensingh, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Sylhet districts.
Wind speeds in these regions could range between 45 and 60 kmph, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
Consequently, river ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Inland Riverine Warning Signal No. 1.
The BMD added that this trend of storms and rain is likely to persist across all divisions for the next few days, with a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in some places.
