


The measles situation in Bangladesh is worsening, with 11 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
According to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room on Saturday (April 25), all 11 deaths were among children with suspected measles.
During the same period, 1,287 children were identified with measles or measles-like symptoms. Of them, 229 cases were confirmed as measles, while 1,058 were classified as suspected cases.
Since March 15, a total of 30,607 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide, alongside 4,460 confirmed infections. Among these patients, 20,475 required hospital admission, and 17,081 have since been discharged.
The outbreak has claimed 251 lives during this period. Of the total deaths, 209 were suspected measles cases and 42 were confirmed.
Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of infections and deaths, followed by Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
