Tarique Rahman Sworn In as Bangladesh's 11th Prime Minister

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been sworn in as the country's 11th Prime Minister. His party BNP won more than two-thirds of the seats in the 13th National Parliament election held on February 12, securing an absolute majority.

President Md. Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to the new Prime Minister at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building this afternoon (Tuesday). Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani conducted the swearing-in ceremony.

After taking the oath in the National Parliament the previous morning, BNP party members elected Tarique Rahman as the leader of the parliament and the prime minister in a parliamentary meeting.
