Over 193,000 Bangladeshi expats register for postal voting via 'Postal Vote BD' app for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election.

The registration for postal voting for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and referendum has seen a significant surge among Bangladeshi expatriates, with the Election Commission (EC) website reporting a total of 1,93,874 registrations through the 'Postal Vote BD' app as of the latest update.

The Election Commission has extended the registration deadline for expatriate voters using the 'Postal Vote BD' app until 25 December. EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed that any Bangladeshi abroad can download the app and complete their registration within this extended period.

The EC has strongly urged expatriates to provide accurate postal addresses, noting that incomplete or incorrect information could lead to the non-delivery of ballot papers. This is crucial for the successful implementation of the postal voting system.

In addition to the out-of-country voting, the EC is set to introduce In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV). This system will cater to Government officials on election duty. Voters currently in legal custody. Government officials stationed outside their respective constituencies.
