US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded a high-level three-day state visit in Washington where US officials explicitly warned Beijing against aiding Iran amid ongoing global conflicts.
Following bilateral discussions the US Ambassador to China David Perdue revealed that President Trump told President Xi that Chinese assistance direct or indirect for Iran is "totally unacceptable." Perdue noted that Washington received assurances from Beijing that such support will cease also citing early movement on those commitments.
Despite discussions covering sensitive security topics President Trump characterized the overall meetings as "very productive" stating the two powers have "never gotten along better." Trump also highlighted that President Xi accepted calling Artificial Intelligence (AI) by a broader term "Super Intelligence" underscoring how choices surrounding technology and global security will shape peace and prosperity for decades.
For his part President Xi described the exchanges as sincere and constructive, adding that they offered fresh strategic guidance for navigating US-China relations.
The leaders concluded their official schedule with tea at the White House and a visit to the National Archives. They confirmed plans to meet again in November in China and at the December G20 Summit in Florida.
