Minister for Industries, Commerce, Textiles, and Jute, Khandoker Abdul Muktadir, has called for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Egypt in the areas of industry, trade, and investment.
He noted that the long-standing historical and friendly relations between the two countries can be leveraged to create new avenues of industrial and economic cooperation.
The Minister made these remarks during a courtesy meeting with Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy, the Ambassador of Egypt to Bangladesh, at the Ministry of Industries on Monday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various matters of mutual interest, focusing on expanding investment in the industrial sector, boosting trade, exchanging technology and expertise, and exploring possibilities for joint ventures.
Minister Khandoker Abdul Muktadir emphasized that Bangladesh is steadily progressing along the path of industrialization and economic development, offering significant scope for foreign investment in its industrial sector. He highlighted that Egyptian businessmen and entrepreneurs stand to benefit alongside Bangladesh by investing in the country.
He further pointed out potential areas for joint collaboration, including leather, light engineering, pharmaceuticals, jute, and jute products, adding that mutual exchange of technology and experience could drive development in these sectors.
Inviting Egyptian investors, the Minister assured that the government is implementing various measures to ensure an industry-friendly environment. He added that investing in Bangladesh would provide Egyptian entrepreneurs with new market opportunities while contributing to the expansion of Bangladesh's industry and employment.
Recalling the historical ties between the two nations, Ambassador Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy expressed Egypt's keen interest in deepening economic and commercial relations with Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation in industry and investment, assuring continued support to foster communication among business leaders and entrepreneurs of both countries.
Both parties expressed optimism that industrial, trade, and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and Egypt will expand further in the future.
