Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir stated on Saturday that the government will not yet comment on the trade agreement initiated by the previous interim administration with the United States.
The Minister noted that the agreement is currently subject to various public arguments and internal reviews. Speaking to journalists at the Sylhet Circuit House following a meeting with the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, he clarified that the government's official position would be announced "in due course."
Shifting focus to regional trade, the Minister emphasized the vital nature of economic ties with India, Bangladesh's second-largest trading partner. He expressed the government's expectation for enhanced cooperation in import-export facilities and modern digital technology.
"As a major neighbor, we look forward to more active engagement from India, particularly in the service and digital sectors, to further strengthen our bilateral economic landscape," the Minister added.
