Gold prices in Bangladesh have increased after four consecutive price reductions with the standard 22-carat gold rising by Tk.2,216 to Tk.223,074 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new rates which took effect across the country on Wednesday. Under the updated structure, hallmarked 22-carat gold sells at Tk.19,125 per gram (including VAT), translating to Tk.223,074 per bhori (11.664 grams). Prices for other grades also rose proportionately: 21-carat stands at Tk.213,043, 18-carat at Tk.182,950, and traditional-method gold at Tk.149,474 per bhori.
Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, chairman of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, explained that the domestic market aligns strictly with international market shifts. Prior to this hike, local 22-carat gold prices had fallen by a total of Tk.10,439 per bhori across four separate adjustments since October 13, following a drop in global spot gold below $4,000 per ounce.
As global gold prices began rebounding on Tuesday the BAJUS adjusted local pure gold (tejabi) rates accordingly. On Wednesday, spot gold traded at $4,032.05 per ounce in international markets.
Meanwhile the BAJUS kept silver prices unchanged. Hallmarked 22-carat silver continues to sell at Tk.3,849 per bhori.
