


The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Board of Trustees has distributed Tk 1.1 crore in financial assistance to 29 families affected by road accidents in Laxmipur.
Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee handed over the cheques as the chief guest during a ceremony at the Laxmipur Sadar Upazila Parishad hall on Saturday evening.
Under the initiative, the families of 18 deceased victims received Tk 5 lakh each also the 11 injured individuals were given Tk 1 lakh each. The funds are aimed at alleviating the sudden financial hardships faced by the victims' families.
Laxmipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kathoshai Pru Marma chaired the event. Special guests included Chandraganj UNO Nilufa Yasmin Nipa and Laxmipur BRTA Executive Director Abdullah Al Mamun.
Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized the government's commitment to supporting accident victims and their dependents. They also made a strong public appeal and urging all citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules and road safety laws to prevent future tragedies.
The affected families expressed their gratitude for the government's crucial financial support. The event was well-attended by local public representatives, government officials and media personnel.
