


Lohagara upazila celebrated National Rural Development Day on Monday (July 6) with a rally, financial aid distribution, and discussions centered on the theme, "Developed Rural, Prosperous Country—Bangladesh First."
The day’s events began at 10:00 AM with a rally that started at the Upazila Parishad premises and paraded through the town's main roads.
Following the rally, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser presided over a discussion at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Narail-2 Member of Parliament Ataur Rahman Bachchu attended as the chief guest, while Jamaat-e-Islami District Working Committee Member Maulana Alamgir Hossain also addressed the gathering.
Upazila Rural Development Officer Sheikh Jahangir Alam delivered the welcome address. Moderated by Upazila Cooperative Officer Abdur Rahman, the event featured speeches from Lohagara Government Pilot High School Headmaster SM Hayatuzzaman, Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahman, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Maulana Hadiuzzaman, and former BRDB Chairman Sheikh Lutfar Rahman.
Various government officials, public representatives, teachers, cooperative members, and local journalists were in attendance.
At the conclusion of the program, financial assistance was provided to local students and rural beneficiaries. Two students from the Rural Development Kishori School—Mosha Rubaiya Khanam and Lamiya Khanam—received educational stipends of Tk 22,000 and Tk 12,600, respectively. Additionally, Tk 7,79,000 was distributed among 15 beneficiaries of the Rural Progress Program, and tree saplings were given to 60 local residents.
