To mark National Rural Development Day 2026, a rally and discussion meeting was held in Louhjang, Munshiganj, under the theme, "Developed Village, Prosperous Country, Bangladesh First."

The Upazila Administration and the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) jointly organized the event on Sunday at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farzana Bobby Mitu presided over the session, which was moderated by BRDB Accountant Shafiqul Islam.

The day's program featured three parts: a morning rally, a tree plantation drive, and a formal discussion. The event concluded with the distribution of loan checks to local cooperative members.

Addressing the gathering, UNO Farzana Bobby Mitu emphasized the need for genuine grassroots engagement. She urged officials to move beyond formal administrative meetings and directly interact with rural communities, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the guidance needed to use their loans effectively and achieve financial self-reliance.

Other speakers highlighted the BRDB’s vital role in boosting the rural economy. They stressed that creating small entrepreneurs, expanding cooperative activities, and empowering women are essential steps toward building self-reliant villages and ensuring sustainable national development. Putting a human face to these initiatives, cooperative members Aleya Begum and Nurunnahar Begum shared their personal success stories with the audience.

The meeting drew a wide range of participants, including local government officials, public representatives, journalists, and cooperative members.

Notable attendees included Upazila Engineer Md. Rezaul Islam, Social Service Officer Md. Ujjal Munshi, Women Affairs Officer Aradhana Rani Karmakar, Project Implementation Officer Afia Nasrin, Cooperative Officer Abdul Kader, and Muktijoddha Sangsad Convener Md. Tofazzal Hossain Badal Sheikh. Leaders from the Louhajang Upazila Press Club, including President Abu Naser Khan Limon, former President Mizanur Rahman Jhilu, and General Secretary Tajul Islam Rakib, were also in attendance.
