To combat a rising mosquito infestation, the Morelganj Upazila administration in Bagerhat distributed 17 fogger machines on Sunday.
Bagerhat-4 Member of Parliament, Principal Abdul Alim, attended the handover ceremony as the chief guest at the Upazila Parishad meeting room. The event was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Habibullah.
Addressing the growing public health concern, the chief guest stated that the initiative was made possible with Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding, totaling Tk 1.45 million. Under the allocation, all 16 unions in the upazila received one machine each, while one was reserved for the Upazila Parishad. To ensure immediate operations, 10 liters of mosquito repellent were provided with each machine.
The ceremony was attended by Upazila Engineer Md. Ariful Islam, local political figures including Jamaat-e-Islami Municipal Amir Rafiqul Islam and Joint General Secretary Principal Abdul Alim, union administrative officers, and local media personnel.
