


The government has launched a free agricultural incentive program in Monohardi, Narsingdi with distributing vegetable seeds, chemical fertilizers, lemon saplings and vermicompost to small and marginal farmers for the Kharif-2 season.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bokul inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest at an event chaired by Monohardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer M. A. Muhaimin Al Jihan.
Under the fiscal year 2025–26 Agricultural Rehabilitation Assistance Program, 600 local farmers are receiving a package of vegetable seeds alongside 15 kg of DAP fertilizer and 15 kg of MOP fertilizer each. Additionally, 50 selected farmers are being provided with five lemon saplings and 10 kg of vermicompost to promote diversified farming.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Runa Akter explained that the initiative aims to cut production costs for marginal farmers and boost overall yields.
In his address, Minister Bokul highlighted agriculture as a cornerstone of the national economy. He emphasized that the government remains dedicated to providing ongoing subsidies, modernizing farming techniques and securing the country's food supply while improving rural livelihoods.
The event concluded with the symbolic handover of the agricultural packages to local farmers. It was attended by senior sub-district officials, political figures, agricultural extension staff and members of civil society.
