A government agricultural incentive program distributing free fertilizers, seeds and saplings to over 1,100 farmers was officially inaugurated in Munshiganj’s Louhjang upazila on Friday morning.
Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Member of Parliament for the Munshiganj-2 constituency, launched the initiative as the chief guest at the Upazila Parishad premises. The distribution falls under the Agricultural Incentive and Tree Plantation Program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, organized jointly by the Louhjang Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
Targeting the Kharif planting season, the program provided 750 local farmers with free, high-yield seeds and fertilizers. An additional 380 farmers received fruit tree saplings along with necessary fertilizers.
Addressing the gathering, MP Azad emphasized the critical role of these incentives in boosting the nation's crop production and helping rural farmers achieve economic self-reliance. He urged local cultivators to adopt improved crop varieties and stressed the importance of widespread tree plantation to maintain environmental stability.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farzana Bobby Mitu chaired the event. The ceremony was also attended by Reserved Seat MP Momtaz Alo as a special guest, alongside Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Hasan-ud-Daula, various local government engineers, political figures and farmer representatives from multiple unions.
