


Mohammad Shakil 22 was killed on Sunday morning when a speeding covered van ran over him on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai upazila.
The incident occurred around 9:00 am in the Madhyam Sonapahar area of Jorarganj Union. Shakil, son of Tofazzal Hossain from the same area, was transporting lighting equipment to a wedding on a tractor.
According to witnesses and relatives, Shakil was traveling from Bariyarhat to Jorarganj. Near Arshinagar Future Park, a wheel of the tractor suddenly detached, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. Shakil fell onto the highway and was immediately struck by a speeding covered van, dying on the spot.
Eyewitness Arif Hossain said, "From a distance, I saw a tractor lying upside down on the highway. When I got closer, I saw a man had fallen from it and died. I immediately informed the police, who arrived and recovered the body."
Zorarganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sharifuzzaman Bhuiyan confirmed the incident. "The body was recovered and taken to the Mastannagar Upazila Health Complex. The victim's family has been notified, and legal proceedings are underway," he said.
