


The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 19,600 yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk 5.9 million from a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong on Friday night. Two people were arrested during the operation.
The raid was conducted at a temporary RAB checkpost in the Purba Kalurghat area of the municipal headquarters on May 22.
The arrested were identified as Badsha Mia, 47, of the Chandgaon area in Chittagong city, and Tahera Begum Shamsida, 35, from the Balukhali Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
According to RAB and police sources, officers stopped a suspicious auto-rickshaw at the Kalurghat checkpost and searched the vehicle. During the search, they recovered 10 packets wrapped in black tape.
After opening the packets, RAB found 19,600 yaba tablets inside. Officials said the seized drugs have an estimated market value of around Tk 5.9 million.
RAB official Mahfuzur Rahman said a case has been filed against the two accused under the Narcotics Control Act.
