


At least 15 people, including two women and a union parishad member, were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Banka village of Lohagara upazila in Narail on Saturday morning.
The clash broke out around 9:00 am in Lakshmipasha union’s Banka village. The injured were taken to different hospitals, including Lohagara Upazila Health Complex and Narail Sadar Hospital.
According to police and local sources, there had been a long-standing dispute over local dominance and past enmity between supporters of UP member Jiru Kazi and Akhter Hossain, both residents of the village.
Tensions escalated on Friday afternoon (March 6) following an argument over the theft of a motor.
The dispute led to a violent clash on Saturday morning (March 7). Members of both groups reportedly attacked each other using locally made weapons, including shields, ramdas, sticks and brickbats.
Among the injured are UP member Jiru Kazi (50), Liton (45), Himayet (51), Firoz Molya (45), Musa (24), Shariful (34), Hasan Molya (53), Prince (25), Quader (25), Akhter Molya (60), Miraj Molya (47), Lutfar Nahar (28), Rekha Begum (33) and Selim Biswas (44).
Most of the injured were initially treated at Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. Those in serious condition were later transferred to Narail Sadar Hospital and Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rahman said police have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.
“Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the clash,” he added.
