Members of the Coast Guard and police arrested a man with 1 kilogram of marijuana during a joint operation in Bhola.
The arrested person has been identified as Tofail Ahmed, 36, son of Amir Hossain, a resident of Ward No. 5 of Bapta Sundarkhali in Bhola Sadar upazila.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lt BN Md Abul Kashem confirmed the incident. He said the arrest was made based on a secret tip-off.
According to him, at around 12:30am on December 29, members of Coast Guard Base Bhola, in coordination with the police, carried out a raid in the North Bapta area under Bhola Sadar Police Station. During the operation, they recovered 1kg of marijuana, estimated to be worth Tk40,000.
Legal proceedings against the seized drugs and the arrested individual are currently underway.
