Protest and Class Boycott in Lohagara Over Student Molestation

Students and locals of RKK Janata Secondary School staged a protest and boycotted classes on Sunday, demanding justice for an SSC candidate allegedly molested by an assistant teacher.

The protest, which began around 10:00 AM, saw students and residents march through the school premises in Raygram. The demonstration follows allegations that assistant teacher Md. Babu Mia attempted to molest the 15-year-old student at his home during a private tutoring session approximately two weeks ago. The victim later reported the incident to her guardians, sparking local outrage.

Tensions escalated until Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahman arrived at the scene. After receiving assurances of a fair trial and immediate action, students agreed to end the boycott and return to their classrooms.

On the UNO's instructions, a three-member investigation committee has been formed, led by Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Anwar Hossain.

"The committee has been directed to submit a comprehensive report within the next seven days," stated Anwar Hossain. UNO Shammi Kaiser confirmed the timeline, reiterating the administration's commitment to justice.
