Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-8) has arrested the main accused in the Shakil murder case from Dhaka’s Bhatara area on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrestee, Md. Tamim (22), is the son of Nurannabi Pandit from Araliya village in Tajumuddin Upazila, Bhola. RAB-8 Bhola Camp Commander Lt. Md. Shahriar Rifat Abi confirmed the arrest during a briefing on Wednesday evening.

The incident dates back to January 10, when an argument broke out between Tamim and the victim’s brother over a debt of Tk 600. During the altercation, Tamim allegedly struck Shakil on the head with a cricket bat and fled the scene.

Shakil was initially rushed to the Tajumuddin Upazila Health Complex and later moved to Bhola 250-bed General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on the morning of January 11. Following the death, the victim's father, Md. Yunus, filed a murder case with the local police.
