The admission test for the first year 'D' unit of Chittagong University (CU) for the 2025-26 academic year has begun. A total of 51,505 students have participated in the exam. 60 candidates are competing for each seat. The exam will start from 11:15 am on Saturday (January 3) and will continue till 12:30 pm.

In addition to Chittagong University, the admission test was held simultaneously at Dhaka University in the capital and Rajshahi University Center in Rajshahi. SM Akbar Hossain, Member Secretary of the Admission Test Committee, said that the 'D' unit has 9 departments under the Faculty of Sociology of Chittagong University, the Law Department of the Faculty of Law, the Education and Research Department and two departments under the Faculty of Biology. The total number of seats in this unit is 849. A total of 51,505 students have submitted applications against these seats.

Accordingly, an average of about 60 candidates participated in the competition against each seat. The member secretary of the examination committee further said that to ensure the fair and safe participation of the candidates in the examination, the examination has been organized simultaneously in three centers. Of these, 20,542 candidates participated in the Chittagong University center, 23,366 in the Dhaka University center and 7,597 in the Rajshahi University center.

Students entered the center at 10:30 am. The admission test started at 11:15 am by giving the OMR sheet at 11:15 am and ended at 12:15 pm. This year, the admission test will be held in the multiple choice method (MCQ) with 100 marks. Zero points will be deducted for each wrong answer. The minimum pass mark for the 'D' unit has been set at 40.

In addition, the 'C' unit and 'B' unit exams are scheduled to be held on January 9 and January 10, respectively. On the other hand, the ‘D-1’, ‘B-1’ and ‘B-2’ sub-unit exams will be held on January 5, January 7 and January 8, respectively.

On Saturday (January 3), the same day as the first-year ‘D’ unit admission exam, the Bhatiari International Marathon is being held in the Chittagong region, organized by the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA). The Bhatiari-Hathazari Link Road is temporarily closed for the occasion.
