Pabna-Dhaka train to run in March, Abdul Hamid Road being widened: Sheikh Moinuddin

Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on Roads, Bridges and Rail Communication Sheikh Moinuddin has expressed hope that a direct train from Pabna to Dhaka will be launched in March 2026.

He informed reporters at the Pakshi Western Divisional Railway Office in Pabna on Tuesday (December 9) morning.

Sheikh Moinuddin said that there is currently a shortage of coaches in the railway department. The railway department is preparing to start a direct train from Pabna to Dhaka from March by resolving it in a short time.

At this time, he also said that a decision will be taken after reviewing the unused railway station built for the purpose of transporting goods of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

Sheikh Moinuddin, who announced plans to build a modern integrated communication system across the country by water, rail and road, said that the work of upgrading the country's district-level connecting highways to four lanes and widening the main roads has started. As an old district, the government is considering road widening on priority basis.

In addition, the Aricha Khaschar Ferry Connection Project, Pakshi-Badherhat Road Widening, Kashinathpur-Ullapara Road Widening Project are under active consideration of the government. At the same time, the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor assured of constructing an overpass at Ishwardi Rail Gate to ease traffic congestion.

Earlier, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson, BNP nominated candidate for Pabna Sadar constituency Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and District BNP Convener, BNP nominated candidate for Pabna-4 constituency Habibur Rahman Habib, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, presented the long-standing demands of the people of Pabna for communication development to Sheikh Moinuddin.

Sheikh Moinuddin, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, arrived in Ishwardi yesterday, Monday (December 8). On Tuesday, he visited the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project and the North Bengal Papermill School, which is associated with the advisor's student life.

At that time, Pabna Press Club General Secretary Zahurul Islam, District BNP Senior Joint Convener Alhaj Abdus Samad Khan Montu, Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners Association Secretary General Abu Ahsan Khan Rayon and officials of the Western Divisional Railway were present.
