Khelafat Majlis officially announced its withdrawal from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance on Saturday.

The decision was finalized during the party's third general meeting of its Central Majlis-e-Shura held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Dhaka.

In a press release signed by Central Publicity Secretary Engineer Abdul Hafiz Khasru, Khelafat Majlis confirmed it will abstain from all future programs and activities organized by the 11-party coalition. However the party leaders noted they remain open to joining broader alliances in the future if political circumstances require it.

Party sources indicated that political friction had been brewing for months. Following an alliance divisional rally in Chattogram on June 13, Khelafat Majlis formally requested that its name and leaders' images not be featured on banners or promotional materials for joint events. A similar issue arose during a rally in Rangpur where the party's name was removed following official objections.

Party leaders clarified that although they maintained a minor presence during initial post-election programs and they have completely refrained from participating in alliance activities in recent times leading to the formal separation.
