Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has reported a coordinated cyberattack on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of its Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and several senior leaders. In response, the party’s election management committee filed a General Diary (GD) with Hatirjheel Police Station on Saturday night.
According to the party's central publicity department, hackers briefly gained control of the Ameer’s account and posted "unwanted" content containing false statements. The party’s cyber team reportedly regained control of the affected accounts shortly after the breach.
Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Assistant Secretary General and head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, issued a statement condemning the attack. He clarified that any posts made during the period of unauthorized access do not reflect the views or positions of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman or the party.
"Spreading false information, identity forgery, and the creation of distorted content are punishable offenses," Zubair stated. He urged the public and media to remain vigilant against fake quotes and to verify information through official party channels before sharing.
The party’s campaign team emphasized their commitment to digital security and stated that further updates would be provided if necessary.
