BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to be flown to London for advanced medical treatment via an air ambulance arriving today (Saturday) after a previous flight was delayed due to mechanical issues.
An air ambulance operated by Qatar, arranged through the German company FAI, is scheduled to land in Dhaka at 5 PM on Saturday. The initial flight, a royal aircraft sent by the Emir of Qatar, encountered mechanical problems, causing a delay from the original expected departure date of December 5th.
BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan clarified that the replacement aircraft is a Qatari air ambulance (manufactured by a German company), not one sent from Germany.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir indicated that if her health and medical board approve, Khaleda Zia could fly out on Sunday (December 7th). Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, arrived in Dhaka this morning and will accompany her mother-in-law on the flight to London.
The former prime minister is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital since November 23rd for multiple chronic ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and issues related to the kidney, lung, heart, and eyes.
This is not Khaleda Zia's first medical trip to the UK this year; she previously travelled to London on January 8th and spent 17 days at the London Clinic before returning to Dhaka in May.
