


Nine more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deaths were recorded between 8:00 am Monday and 8:00 am Tuesday, as stated in a DGHS update published on April 28.
Among the victims, three died from confirmed measles, while six died with measles symptoms.
Since March 15, the total number of child deaths linked to measles and related symptoms has reached 273.
In the past 24 hours, 1,276 new cases of measles-like symptoms were reported. This brings the total number of suspected cases to 34,662 during the same period.
The DGHS also confirmed 163 new measles cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 4,856 since March 15.
So far, 47 deaths have been officially confirmed as caused by measles. An additional 226 deaths are classified as suspected measles cases.
Hospital data shows that 906 patients were admitted with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, while 973 patients were discharged.
Since March 15, a total of 23,348 patients have been hospitalized with measles symptoms, and 19,991 have recovered and been discharged.
Health authorities continue to urge vigilance as the outbreak spreads.
