


The newly elected members of parliament of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have taken oath in the 13th National Parliament election. Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP Standing Committee and advisor to the BNP Chairperson, is going to take charge of the Finance Ministry.
On Tuesday (February 17), at around 10:45 am, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath of office to the newly elected members of parliament at the swearing-in hall of the National Parliament Building.
Amir Khasru won the Chittagong-11 constituency in the 13th National Parliament election. Earlier, in 2001, he took charge as the Minister of Commerce and served as the minister until March 25, 2004.
On Tuesday morning, the CEC first administered the oath of office to the members of parliament elected from BNP, including BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. Later, they all signed the oath book.
After that, Chief Election Commissioner Nasir Uddin will administer the oath of office to the elected members of parliament from other parties, including the independent members of parliament elected from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The new cabinet members will take the oath at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building at 4 pm today.
It is worth noting that according to the unofficial results of the National Parliament election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won 209 seats out of 297 seats and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats. In addition, the National Citizens Party (NCP) won six seats and independent candidates won seven seats.
