As anticipation builds for Drishyam 3, actor Rajat Kapoor has shared a humorous perspective on his recurring role as Mahesh Deshmukh. Known for playing the composed husband of Tabu’s character, Meera Deshmukh, Kapoor joked that his character arc remains remarkably consistent.
In a recent interview with SCREEN, when asked if his role would gain more depth in the third installment, Kapoor quipped, "There's nothing to crack. I was standing behind Tabu; that's it. There's no arc. I'm still standing behind Tabu."
The actor also reflected on his recent "typecasting" in administrative roles, such as an Income Tax officer in Raid 2 and a police officer in Raat Akeli Hai. He noted the challenge of playing "generic" officials where the character is often restricted to reacting to situations rather than driving the plot.
Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is currently in production. The film sees the return of the original powerhouse cast, including Ajay Devgn as the iconic Vijay Salgaonkar, Tabu, and Shriya Saran.
Despite rumors of Akshaye Khanna’s exit from the franchise, the makers promise a high-stakes thriller that continues the suspenseful legacy of the previous chapters.
