Shama Obaid Islam, the BNP's nominated MP candidate for Faridpur-2 (Nagarkanda-Saltha) constituency in the 13th National Parliament election, has exercised his right to vote.

He cast his vote at the Lashkardia Government Primary School polling station in Nagarkanda upazila at 8:10 am on Thursday (February 12).

After casting his vote, he expressed satisfaction with the election environment to the media and urged voters to come to the polling station without fear. A large number of people have been seen at a total of 117 polling stations in this constituency, which consists of Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas, since morning. This time, a total of 6 candidates, including Shama Obaid, are contesting in this constituency.

The total number of voters in Faridpur-2 is currently 332,041. Out of these, 172,904 are male voters and 159,137 are female voters. A tour of the constituency has shown that male and female voters have been exercising their voting rights in an orderly manner since morning, standing in long lines.

Shama Obaid had earlier advised voters to immediately hand over their NID cards or mobile numbers to the police if anyone asks for them, which is seen as a manifestation of his conscious stance on fair voting.

Overall, there are a total of 4 parliamentary constituencies in Faridpur district, and voting is underway simultaneously in 9 upazilas and 81 unions. 657 polling stations have been prepared for a total of 17,71,923 voters in the district. 9,02,911 male and 8,69,04 female voters are participating in this huge campaign across the district. In addition, there are 8 voters of the third gender in the district. A large number of security personnel, including BGB, RAB, army, police and Ansar, have been deployed to control the law and order situation in the entire district.

36 Executive Magistrates and 14 Judicial Magistrates are working tirelessly at the field level to ensure a fair and peaceful election. A striking force has been kept ready to deal with any unforeseen situation.

Shama Obaid believes that there is no opportunity to underestimate any opponent in the voting field and ultimately the voters will come to an acceptable result. Due to the strict surveillance and integrated security arrangements of the current administration, no major untoward incident has been reported in Faridpur-2 constituency so far.
