Police recovered the semi-decomposed head and hands of an unidentified woman from under a culvert in Dhaka's Sabujbagh area on Thursday morning. The rest of the victim's body remains missing.
Officers arrived at the scene around 9:00 a.m. after receiving reports of the discovery. Sabujbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam stated that the woman was likely murdered and dismembered two to three days prior.
"We have recovered the head and two hands but the torso and lower limbs have not yet been found. We are conducting a thorough search of the immediate and surrounding areas," OC Islam said.
Authorities are actively working to identify the victim. A forensic expert team has been dispatched to the scene to collect fingerprints and DNA evidence. The recovered remains are being sent to a hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police have launched a full investigation to uncover the motive behind the murder and apprehend those responsible.
