


A mobile court has sentenced a 55-year-old man to eight months in prison after he was caught with 400 grams of locally brewed liquor in Monohardi upazila, Narsingdi.
Amir Hossain Ratan, a resident of Chengain village (Ward 4, Chalakchar Union), was arrested during an anti-drug drive near the Chalakchar bus stand at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 20, 2026.
Following the arrest, Monohardi Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajib Mia convened a mobile court and handed down the eight-month sentence. Sub-Inspector Nir Al Islam of the Monohardi Police Station and an accompanying police force assisted in the operation.
Local administration officials reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing anti-drug drives, emphasizing that public awareness and community cooperation are essential to building a drug-free society.
