A mobile court has sentenced two individuals to two months in prison each for consuming and selling drugs in Monohardi Upazila, Narsingdi.

The operation took place on Wednesday in the Bandooksipara area of Charmandalia Union. The convicted individuals are Nasima, 45, daughter of Subed Ali, and Shukkur Ali, 65, son of Moizuddin, both residents of Bandooksipara.

Monohardi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajib Mia led the anti-drug drive. After the charges of drug consumption and dealing were proven, the mobile court sentenced them to two months' imprisonment and fined them Tk 100 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional day in jail.

Sub-Inspector Abul Hasan of the Rampur Police Investigation Center, along with accompanying law enforcement members, assisted in the raid.

Upazila administration officials stated that these routine operations reflect the government's 'zero tolerance' policy on narcotics and will continue across the region to maintain a drug-free society.
