A rape case has been filed against a youth with Morelganj Police Station in Bagerhat following the alleged assault of an 11-year-old madrasa student.

According to the case statement, the incident took place on Wednesday noon behind Kazi Market in Shanirjor village under Bahrbunia union. The accused, Rakib Mridha (22), son of Zakir Mridha, allegedly lured the sixth-grade student to the location under the pretext of showing him games on a mobile phone.

When the victim screamed during the assault, the attacker fled the scene. The victim later informed his parents. The victim’s family alleged that the accused's parents threatened them with death when informed of the matter.

Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a formal complaint, which was recorded as Case No. 24 on June 10, 2026.

Morelganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahmudur Rahman confirmed the matter, stating, "A case has been filed based on the complaint. We are conducting drives to arrest the accused."
