A human chain and rally have been held at Ishwardi Junction Station demanding the addition of new trains and the suspension of all trains, including the Dhaka-bound Panchagarh Express train, at the bypass station.

The protest and human chain were held at Ishwardi Railway Junction Station at 11 am on Saturday (November 1) by the Samakal Suhrid Unit and local people.

The speakers in the human chain said that Ishwardi is an important station in the history of Bangladesh Railways. But due to the intervention of some unscrupulous railway officials, a forced process is underway to make Ishwardi station empty of trains.

As a result, not only has the government's revenue from this station decreased, but the suffering of passengers traveling from this station to various parts of the country including Dhaka has increased manifold. Therefore, the speakers have drawn the attention of the appropriate authorities to add several new trains to this station without delay to protect this junction station and reduce the suffering of the people of this area.

At this time, the speakers also said that several trains from North Bengal to Dhaka pass through Ishwardi bypass station without any break. Again, the Bangladesh Railway authorities have shifted several trains to Dhaka via Ishwardi due to the closure of the Padma Bridge. However, despite the highest demand, no new trains have been added here. Which has been very bad for the people of this region (Kushtia, Ishwardi, Chatmohar, Boral Bridge, Ullapara). Therefore, the speakers also warned that if the journey of all trains on Ishwardi bypass and the addition of new trains at Ishwardi junction station is not done quickly, they will stop the journey of all trains running through this region through a protest movement with the general public.

Samakal Suhrid Ishwardi Branch President Rezaul Karim Babu (RK Babu) presided over the event and Bir Bangla Editor Ohiduzzaman Tipu moderated it. Among others present were Ishwardi Press Club Joint General Secretary and Editor of Weekly Ishwardi Selim Sardar, former student leader of Rajshahi University Mahbubur Rahman Palash, Ishwardi Press Club President Azizur Rahman Shahin, former VP of Ishwardi Government College Rezaul Karim Shahin, Ishwardi Banik Samity Vice President Anwar Hossain Joni, teacher Zahidul Alam Sonu, journalist Wajed Ali Sintu, Jubo Dal leader Bipu, etc.
