Trolley Overturns in Nalchiti Driver Killed, Assistant Injured

A driver died and his assistant was critically injured after their speeding trolley overturned in Nalchiti upazila of Jhalakathi on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:15 AM on the Khejurtala-Manpasha road in the Virat area.

The deceased driver was identified as Md. Hanif Majhi, 38, son of Sultan Majhi from Bakharkathi, Barisal.

According to police and eyewitnesses, Hanif was driving an empty trolley from Phultala Bazar toward Khejurtala to load sand. He lost control of the vehicle due to speeding in the Virat area, causing the trolley to overturn into a roadside ditch. Hanif was crushed underneath the vehicle and died on the spot.

Locals rescued the severely injured assistant and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Upon receiving the news, police recovered the body and sent it to the Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ariful Alam confirmed the accident, adding that legal proceedings are currently underway.
