Ambulance Driver seriously Injured in Head-on Crash with Bus in Nalchiti

An ambulance driver was seriously injured after a head-on collision between an ambulance and a passenger bus on the Barisal–Patuakhali highway in Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi District.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon (March 16) in the Chowmatha area of Dapdapia Union.

According to eyewitnesses, a passenger bus operated by Jamuna Line collided with an ambulance coming from the opposite direction. The impact severely damaged the front part of the ambulance.

Local residents rushed to the scene and rescued the injured driver. He was later taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal for treatment. His identity could not be confirmed immediately.

Officer-in-Charge of Nalchiti Police Station, Md. Ariful Alam, said police reached the scene after receiving information and brought the situation under control.

He added that the cause of the accident is being investigated and legal action will be taken if necessary.

The crash briefly disrupted traffic on the Barisal–Patuakhali highway, but the situation returned to normal later.
