


A human chain was held in Paikgachha demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the murder of Bharati Mandal (55), mother of police officer Chinmoy Mandal.
Local residents organized the programme at Lata Bazar on Monday afternoon (April 6). The event was chaired by Imran Sardar, member secretary of Upazila Jubo Dal and a former councillor.
Teachers and community members, including Asit Baran Mandal, Bikash Sarkar, Barun Roy, Mitali Mallick, Swapan Roy, Meera Mandal, Shankari Rani Sarkar, Milan Mandal, Rimpa Mandal, Prabhati Mandal and Binoy Krishna Dhali, addressed the gathering.
Speakers demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and strict punishment to ensure justice.
According to local sources, on the night of March 14, miscreants allegedly looted the house of Sub-Inspector Chinmoy Mandal in Putlakhali village under Lata union. During the incident, his mother Bharati Mandal was killed. Her body was later found in a nearby shrimp enclosure.
Following the incident, Chinmoy Mandal filed a murder case with Paikgachha Police Station.
