


Two more cases of measles have been confirmed in Chittagong, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections in the district to 14 since April 1.
According to District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam, 17 additional patients were hospitalized with measles symptoms between 8:00 AM Saturday and 8:00 AM Sunday. Most of these patients are children and adolescents.
Since the beginning of the month, a total of 95 people have been admitted to hospitals with symptoms. Out of the 14 confirmed cases, eight reside within Chittagong city, while six are from various upazilas in the district.
Health officials have collected samples from 221 individuals so far, sending them to the National Polio and Measles-Rubella Laboratory (NPML) in Dhaka for testing.
In response to the rising numbers, Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has intensified its preparations. Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin stated that 45 symptomatic patients are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. A dedicated ward and a 10-bed ICU have been established specifically to manage measles cases.
