


Nalchiti, Jhalakathi, celebrated Independence and National Day with due solemnity and festive fervor through various programs organized by the Upazila administration.
The day began at dawn with the laying of wreaths at the 1971 massacre memorial site near the Nalchiti ferry ghat. People from all walks of life gathered to pay their respects to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
At 8:00 AM, the official celebrations moved to the Nalchiti China Ground. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Segufta Mehnaz and Nalchiti Police Station OC Ariful Alam officially hoisted the national flag to the strains of the national anthem.
The event was attended by valiant freedom fighters, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rezvi Ahmed Sabuj, political leaders, government officials, and students. Notably, family members of martyrs and participants of the July Uprising were present, adding a significant dimension to this year’s commemoration.
The ceremony opened with religious recitations, the hoisting of the national flag, and the symbolic release of pigeons. This was followed by an impressive march-past by the Nalchiti Police, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Ansar-VDP, and various educational institutions.
Following the parade, students performed a series of physical displays and cultural presentations. The program, moderated by Upazila Rural Development Officer Obaidul Islam and Academic Supervisor Badrul Amin, concluded with a prize-giving ceremony for the participants.
