


Independence and National Day was observed with due solemnity in Porsha, Naogaon, on Thursday. The day began at dawn with a 31-gun salute, followed by the Upazila administration laying wreaths at the Shaheed Minar. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam led the tribute.
At 8:00 AM, the national flag was officially hoisted at Nitpur Government School and College grounds. This was followed by a march-past and physical displays by the police, various organizations, and students. UNO Rakibul Islam and Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman took the salute.
The administration also hosted a reception for brave freedom fighters and the families of martyrs. During the event, prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions held to mark the day.
Key officials in attendance included Agriculture Officer Mamunur Rashid, Livestock Officer Dr. Jahangir Alam, OC (Investigation) Shah Alam Sardar, and Project Implementation Officer Mahmudul Haque Titu, among others.
Separately, the Upazila BNP and its affiliates paid their respects by placing wreaths at the Nitpur Central Shaheed Minar. The event saw participation from Acting President Motar Hossain Sufi Shah, General Secretary Sadequl Islam, and other senior leaders.
To mark the occasion, improved diets were served at the Upazila Health Complex and local orphanages. Special prayers were also held at mosques, temples, and churches across the Upazila, seeking national peace and prosperity.
