Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has suspended two tax officers and relieved three from duty in connection with the Tk 40 crore revenue evasions of two organizations by erasing fieldbooks. On Wednesday (October 22), CHC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain issued four separate orders suspending and relieving them.

The suspended officers include Revenue Department Tax Officer Nurul Alam and Excise Officer Joy Prakash Sen. Revenue Department Account Assistants Manjur Morshed, Ruposhi Rani Dey and Ahsan Ullah have been relieved from duty.

The dismissal order states that the allegations of reducing the amount of money by erasing fieldbooks in the revenue collection of two organizations in the city have been proven. In one order, charges have been brought against Excise Officer Joy Prakash Sen - he deleted the first number '2' in the field book instead of Tk 26 crore 38 lakh 19 thousand 250 and showed Tk 6 crore 38 lakh 19 thousand 250.

In another order, charges have been proven against Tax Officer Nurul Alam - he collected revenue by showing Tk 6 crore 38 lakh 19 thousand 250 instead of Tk 26 crore 38 lakh 19 thousand 250 from one organization and Tk 5 crore 67 lakh 4 thousand 750 instead of Tk 25 crore 67 lakh 4 thousand 750 from another organization.

Both orders state that they will receive food allowance as per the rules during the temporary suspension period.
